Richmond Garden Club

WELCOME FRIENDS!

Thank you for visiting our new Internet site. As an up-to-date organization, we want to give you the opportunity to stay in touch with our members and have access to all up-coming events.

ABOUT US-

The Richmond Garden Club was organized in 1952 and was founded by Mrs. Bert Heuvelman. At present, our club consists of 20 active members and 3 honorary members. Our community is located in Richmond, Illinois just south of Lake Geneva on the Wisconsin border.

Although we have joined together because of a common interest in gardening, this is not our only goal. Richmond Garden Club hosts a variety of events to support and beautify the surrounding community. Each year our organization raises money to provide a College Scholarship to an exceptional local student and to provide Christmas decorations to the local schools and library. We donate annuals each year to the Silver Trees Retirement Community for the residents to plant in their gardens, as well as organizing several planting projects to beautify our parks and street flower boxes. We participate in many of the town's local festivities, providing food, plants, or gardening tools to raise money, promote our club, and encourage new members to join. This year, we donated a significant amount of money for the local food pantry to feed the less fortunate during the holiday season.

We meet the first Wednesday of every month at the local library. On special occasions, we may meet at a member's home. There is always fun and great food to be shared. Guest speakers are occasionally invited to inform us about gardening techniques or other topics of interest. We also try to plan a few outings during the year to expand our knowledge of gardening. Membership is free, as we raffle a beautiful centerpiece at each meeting to defray this cost.

If you are not familiar with our organization and your first contact with us is online, we would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your questions or ideas are, we will be more than happy to help.
